Just a small mistake

Only 2 cable needles out of 3 in the pack were included. Of course I'd probably lose one anyway, but it would be nice to lose. The postal envelope was sealed and it wasn't there either. The rest of the goods are as described and in good condition.

I thought grooves were nice, no.

Absolutely awful. The ridges stuck to my yarn terribly and I got so frustrated with a bunch of cables that I pulled the needle and my yarn came apart and broke. I took a nail file and smoothed the edges, it helped a little but they weren't very good needles.

Ideal for bulky yarns

Excellent quality but the grooves hold the stitches on the needles too well. If you use a lighter weight yarn, the yarn will get stuck in the grooves and it may take a few minutes to unhook it from the needle. They are excellent for heavier yarns (heavier than worsted). If the grooves were smoother/rounder around the edges, they would probably work a lot better.

Pros
  • Sample for a year
Cons
  • Not as thick as other yarns

OK, an addition to a knitter's tackle bag.

Would give 5 stars if these needles were about 2 inches longer. I find myself going back to using the same size double-ended bamboo needle I'm working on the project with, just to get a little more length and control. If you're traveling and space would be an issue that would be great, but they're a bit difficult to work with if like me you have some stiffness in your hands. Color coding is a good idea.

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Ratio Set

I thought the notches would be good to keep the yarn from falling, but the yarn is difficult to move when you as the notches will pinch the twine making it very difficult and time consuming to remove the twine. I only used them briefly once because they didn't do what I wanted them to. Instead I found some skewers (for kebabs) which I cut and sharpened the ends then sanded to a smooth finish which I like MUCH BETTER! Also cheaper.

Pros
  • Easy to use

Not very good

I am new to knitting and think these braided needles will fit perfectly. Unfortunately they are not as big as I thought. The incisions make it difficult to remove the seams, they get stuck in every groove. Also, I got a splinter from them! I have three other brands of wooden needles and haven't had this problem. I did three stitches with this pink needle and the second barley when I got a splinter. A splinter that is too small to be easily removed. I really hit my thumb, which makes my project…

They're a little tricky to work with

I wanted to try these needles with other knitting needles to see which ones were the easiest to work with. I like them, they are very durable. But the grooves designed to hold your stitches securely make them *too* secure. Sometimes my yarn breaks when I try to pull it out of the groove to make a stitch. I can try filling the grooves or filing the edges and see if that helps. I would advise the manufacturer of these needles to try and make the grooves a little shallower. I think it would be…

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Grooved needles are a poor choice for braiding in general

I love Knitter's Pride products the most so it pains me to give a one star review but honestly I can't give them anything better. The simple fact is that sticking straight needles is bad design. The idea, of course, is to hold the stitches in place so they don't slip off the needle. Unfortunately, every single needle of this type I've tried results in stitches getting caught in the grooves whether you're working with lace or worsted yarns and are extremely difficult to knit - and these cable…

Pros
  • Pretty impressive

  • boring packaging
