I ordered this set because one of us, I won't point a finger (I'm looking at the lady now), dropped our 10 year old salt shaker and broke it the lid. They have surprisingly thick glass, but it's not very heavy. They must withstand a drop of 3 feet or more (counter height). The finish is sleek and the company logo is tasteful so it's not overbearing. Spare parts are also a big plus. I am very impressed with them, their smooth operation. and quality in this price range.

My last pepper grinder was a floor grinder and left ground pepper pulp all over. I was so fed up with this and was looking for a replacement. I had a "nice" set of heavy plastic salt and pepper grinders that I loved. But as the years go by, the grinding wears off. They also had a coffee grinder on the bottom, so if you sit on it you're likely to find very small bits of salt or pepper oozing out of the grinding mechanism. In comparison, this is a dream! Shortly after opening the box I could tell it was most likely a return. One grinder did not have the plastic guard attached to the top of the grinder like the other. I soon found out why it could be returned, this coffee grinder works terribly! It gets stuck before you can turn it and makes a noise like it's stuck on something.
