Good GFO at a great price!

GFO. pretty simple product! Rust. I bought this to run in the phosban reactor in my reef tank. Came in a resealable bag and was way cheaper than all GFO branded products! I will buy again

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Some little things

Best GFO I've ever used

Great product! Right after Reefapalooza in Orlando I met up with the guys from Kolar Labs, great guys! I also learned a lot about their other great products. Everything is way better than what I used!

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • There are downsides

Pellets too small

Pellets too small. I had to purchase a Seachem product bag to accommodate this. Most of the dust is created when pouring. While it did what it was supposed to do and lowered phosphate levels, I would stick with the tried and true GFO BRS.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Best GFO I've ever used

This stuff is amazing. I'm moving from a very expensive high strength GFO and this stuff works a lot better. The green algae disappeared after a few days. It's dusty, but I run about a half gallon through it before it hits the tank.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Do not use this in your aquarium

This product has ruined my marine aquarium. It left little black particles on my beautiful white sand and coral. It took us weeks of multiple water changes to get him out of my tank. I put it in my sanctuary in a nylon bag and it still got into my system. Bad product.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Doubt it

It does the job but costs too much now.

I used this GFO religiously because of the price and the fact that it works. Cost was the biggest factor. It doesn't last as long as the BRS GFO, but the lower cost makes it a more affordable option. But now the price is up $5.50 a pound, making this a more affordable option when you can get $1 more from BRS' longer-lasting GFO with free shipping. Sorry Kolar Filtration, but you just lost a customer.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Expensive

Useless; mostly dust.

Tried this one (and many other GFO brands over the years). upset. The bag was mostly dusty and could not be cleaned despite long rinsing. Tried using a 180 micron filter in Seachem "The Bag" and particles still came through. I ended up putting it in 100 micron filter socks in the second stage of my two mechanical filter stages in the sump and it seems to work, but the toe filter clogs very quickly so it's not a long-term solution. Can work in a reactor, but useless in a bag.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Best GFO $/lb. vicinity!

Best price per pound of GFO I've found anywhere from eBay to reef shops! Great GFO, it looks a lot bigger in the picture than it actually is, it's the typical finely ground GFO powder you find in most reactors. The image looks like the surface of Mars under a microscope, but the GFO particles aren't nearly as large. I will buy all my GFOs here as long as the price and quality stay the same. I am currently using this in a BRS elite media reactor (black with red knob) at 1.5 cups each, rotating…

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled
