Useful tool for protecting hands and equipment

Nach From some testing this seems well thought out and gives you protection in case you miss the spiked head. It offers a more comfortable grip and should suffice for everyday use, but it's plastic so remains to be seen how durable it is. My husband says it's a cool concept to protect hands and tools during construction.

Pros
  • Ideal for all types of metalworking and masonry, cutting, shaping or removing wrought iron, cast iron, steel, brass, bronze, copper, aluminium, bolts, nuts and rivets
Cons
  • So-so

Solid Hand Tool Chisel

This is my first experience with a cold chisel, so I don't have much experience with this product. I'm an avid DIY enthusiast and homeowner who would rather do it myself, so I have experience with basic stone chisels. It feels good in hand and the grip is definitely non-slip. I don't feel like this bit will ever fall apart, especially with my sporadic use. Very satisfied with the product.

Pros
  • Has a cutting edge on one end and a striking surface on the other for hitting with a ball point or machinist's hammer. Never hit with a nail hammer and never hit anywhere but the affected surface.
Cons
  • Almost OK

A little less than 12 inches below the best concrete chisels

It's not 12 inches for starters. I measured 11 inches. Also very disappointed to see the impact side expand. This means you have to hit the middle, but it still gives you room to make mistakes and goes easy on your hard a bit. Otherwise, it's a solid piece of metal with a comfortable grip. For the price, it's great for a do-it-yourselfer. stays in the store for a long time.

Pros
  • The handguard pad has a comfortable grip and a large plate that can protect your hand from injury when hitting a hammer the wrong way. The soft material can absorb hammer blows.
Cons
  • There are problems

Slightly under 12 " for hand tools

Not 12" to start with. I measured 11 inches. Also very disappointed to see the impact side slip out. to hit it in the middle, but it will still give you some room for error and protect your hardness a bit. Other than that, it's a solid piece of metal with a comfortable grip. For the price, this is great for DIYers. Not like The store will last a long time.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure

I had to punch holes in a steel drum. The pointed end is a little rounder than I would like, so it doesn't work for what I need. I add his picture. It's huge. I put it next to my ice ax just to show you the size difference. I call it Ogre's Chisel because it's so huge. lol I'm sure I'll find a use for it in the future.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable

For picking and stamping

Chisels like these get a lot of abuse so don't spend a lot of money on them. So far this has worked well as a center hit on metal and for breaking concrete in a window. The protective screen on the handle is a VERY nice thing, especially in humid conditions and less than perfect lighting. There's a bit of fungal growth, but nothing you'd expect from a tool that requires strength rather than hardness.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Damaged
