I love this knife block. I've had a large wooden one for years, but it's half the size and looks more elegant on the counter, especially if your kitchen is part of the dining and living area. You don't want everything to look so utilitarian. In fact, it's so unobtrusive that I forgot I had it and thought I lost all my knives when I moved into our new home. I've driven past it 50 times. :)

We love all Kuhn Rikon products. This is a wonderful Swiss company with a long and honest reputation. These graters are handy, easy to clean and store. It's good to have 3 grate sizes. Another "gadget” that works perfectly and safely is the vegetable peeler. Simple but elegant and you can't accidentally take your fingers off it. I got a paring knife from Black and Decker and it was so poorly constructed I shaved my finger because it wobbled so much. Pressure cookers are unbeatable.
