One size fits some better than others.

Bought and installed a front end kit for my son's Ford Ranger. I didn't like how they sit on the bottom bracket. They hardly fit. I think they were designed to fit as many different vehicles as possible.

Pros
  • Brilliant Done
Cons
  • Some issues

Does not fit Mazda B3000 99

Bought because interface says they are compatible. Once installed on the truck, they would sink to the bottom causing the truck to drive very hard. Neutral rating because I'm sure the dampers are fine, but not suitable for the intended purpose. KYB 344397 fits Mazda B3000 not this one.

Pros
  • Finished
Cons
  • Requires socket

Ignite rusty bolts before removing.

I bought and installed all four shock absorbers (front and rear): braking is smoother. Curves are way better. Set fire to the two bottom bolts to remove them. The top screw broke off while unscrewing (saves me a few turns of the ratchet).

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Great replacement! 2000 Ford Ranger XL with Torsion Bar Suspension

When it comes to quality and financing, KYB is my answer! With many levels to choose from, you can choose the best shock absorber or strut for your vehicle. Application. With a wealth of information, videos, forums and reviews, this further helps to dispel any doubts that may arise. I have several cars and when the OEM breaks down they are my first choice. Installation was easy and pleasant! 2000 Ford Ranger XL "Trail" Head" Edition with torsion bar suspension

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Doubt

Good on road ride and handling

Shock absorbers were fitted to the front of a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer. Previous shocks were a set of Rancho shocks that were fairly stiff and felt every rock on the road, but offered excellent cornering and off-road handling. So far, KYB shocks have restored a smoother ride and great handling. Haven't ridden off-road with the KYB shocks installed, but I'm very happy with the on-road performance. I've driven about 5000 km since installation without any problems.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • So far so good

You get what you pay for

Bought to replace the stock shock absorbers on a Ford Ranger 02. The original shocks were 17 years old and had been removed but I had no idea what a cheap shock kit could do. These shocks make every speed bump and crack in the pavement feel like a 10-foot drop onto concrete. Of course I order a new set of the best brand and throw it in the trash. Would rather save money from these to invest in a better set but you live and learn and cry for lost money.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember

Good shock absorbers on parts

KYB Excel-G is reputed to be a popular brand for mechanics and car enthusiasts and is also recommended by auto manufacturers as an OEM replacement. These shocks range in ride quality between soft and firm. I've used them several times on 2nd gen explorers. If you want a plush ride, go for blue Monroe shocks. But they affect handling and body roll. If you like something between soft and firm, go for these KYB Excel Gs. They handle decently, but with decent body roll. The Gabriel Pro Guard is…

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No power
