Great for my Trooper

I have used KYB struts in sports cars and liked them but not in SUVs. I was looking for better on-road handling and off-road stability. I don't like a vehicle that looks like a cruise ship, but I don't want a rough ride either. I'm very happy with the KYB tires, they're soft enough to make the Trooper excellent off-road, yet stiff enough to greatly improve my 1999 Trooper's on-road performance.

1995 Trooper Upgrade

I have what I think is the last running 1995 Trooper in Texas. When I bought it it needed some maintenance. The original Sensa Trac OEM shock absorbers were still on it with 150,000 km! I pressed the breakers. So I bought them and installed them at a local shop for an amazing price. Now I'm no longer afraid of curves and speed bumps. I also went to the 4WD park and they did brilliantly. Highly recommended for off-road vehicles with light or occasional off-road use. Made in Japan.

  • Best of its kind

and these were recommended. They previously held every 3 months / 4k miles.

I contacted KYB to see what would fit VehiCROSS and they recommended these. It took the full 3 months/4,000 miles before the ride reverted to the bouncy, wobbly ride I was experiencing on my worn out shocks. There was a definite difference in how the truck felt when it was brand new and when it was 3 months old. I drive my truck daily and expected them to last *much* longer than they did. I would not buy them again and I have a hard time recommending them.

KYB Gas-a-just Monotube Shocks Meet

I have had KYB Gas-a-just monotube shocks on my 1994 Isuzu Trooper II for over two years. They offer a softer/smoother ride than I expected and I expected more rebound control. I haven't noticed any degradation in ride quality in over two years of use. I found the physical quality of the hardware to be adequate, with no questionable areas of exterior design/build. I wasn't unhappy with KYB Gas-a-just. The shocks are monotube and I think the cost is reasonable, but next time I'll try a different
