Bought with intention to keep in my scout pack for emergencies. It is very light and made of durable material. As a bonus, it comes with a LOUD whistle. Good for the price.

I was caught in straight wind while riding a 400 mile bike with no protection. I crouched down and wrapped myself and my gear up...putting my bike underneath. I was sheltered from the storm! I dried the bivi but couldn't put it in the bag properly. I covered it with rubber.

I use many SOL products. Emergency bivvy is a good product when used properly. I find it important to have a moisture barrier (like clothing, sleeping bag liner, etc.) to control moisture with this tent. Internal sweating can be a problem.

If you want to use this you are probably using it wrong. It is essentially a space blanket in the form of a bivy sack. It's not sustainable. It's waterproof and adds a few degrees to your sleep system. It doesn't let air through. I've carried it with a tarp instead of a tent on camping trips. When I was caught in a thunderstorm and lost one of my poles in the chaos, my inadequate tarp kept me warm and dry. After that I managed to use it a few more times on cold nights. It weighs almost nothing.

Bought for hiking. I usually take the SOL blanket with me on night hikes, but wanted to try it for day hikes in a pinch. It comes in a nice pouch which I was surprisingly able to send it back in. It's durable enough for repeated use and much nicer than the cheaper ones. It's very light, so it's no problem to put it in my backpack for safety. I highly recommend taking some sort of mylar blanket or tent with you, even if you're going camping, and this is a great option.

Perfect for emergencies. It is much more compact and lighter than a breathable tent. While a regular space blanket might be more versatile, this tent is already set up and ready to use in an emergency. Rather than wrapping yourself in a tarp and hoping there aren't drafts or crevices for moisture or bugs to get in, a tent provides a much better seal. with sharp objects it should remain without tearing (although it can always be patched with tape).
