It works well - with one caveat.

I do what I have to do. It won't make your knives as sharp as a professional sharpener, but it will certainly make your kitchen and pocket knives sharp enough. Sharp enough to cut paper with a sharpener. a flick and shave the hair off my arm. However, if you have expensive knives, you might want to consider professional sharpening. Your knife needs it. Not all knife blades have the same profile. In fact, metal strips have been removed from some of my knives. Just a warning.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

Quality product in the form of whetstones

One side is smooth, the other has two grooves. The grooves are for sharpening fishing hooks etc., but you can also sharpen the knife from this side. This stone does give the blade a fine finish, but with a little pressure it can be quite aggressive. I have a new Mora knife with a rough edge on the back of the blade where the metal has been stamped. This stone achieved a smooth polish with reasonable effort. The stone works better than I expected, way better than any artificial sharpening blocks

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Socket required

Quick Repair: Power & Hand Tools

I bought this to replace my worn out Smith Sharpener. First let me be clear that this product is not a simple sharpener. It is purchased for mending instruments while using those instruments. Using this item on a personal or outdoor knife may ruin the blade as the bevel angle is different on this sharpener. This sharpening product uses pre-curved carbide. Carbide sharpening is very aggressive and removes a lot of metal. If you're sharpening a non-kitchen knife, it's best to use stones. This…
