You Need It for Life

If you stock a Lansky and are happy with the results, you will fret when you add this stone because you didn't use it to begin with. The difference starts with "Wow I didn't know my knife could be that sharp!" to "I want to sharpen everything I see and chop with it and never stop and oh my god the blade is red hot!" Correct . Ultrathin recognizes orcs.

You can't polish the edge with it!

As with most things, the sharpening I received was uneven. never mind So I sent it back and when the replacement came it was defective. Perhaps Revane's supplies are damaged due to improper storage? However, I contacted Lansky directly and informed them of this situation and they will replace it under warranty. Check! Let's hope the sweetheart coming straight from Lansky is doing well. Despite this. 4 stars because of quality problem.

Great addition to a three stone set

I bought this set because I wasn't getting the sharp edges I wanted with coarse, medium and fine stones. My previous technique for sharpening knives was to use a belt mix leather belt to try and achieve a high gloss finish, but I was never able to get the results I wanted. After adding a 1000 grit stone to the process, the edge is much smoother, almost mirror-like, and ready for grinding. I was finally able to easily cut out a piece of paper from our local phone book. I think next time I'll try

Ok but for money.

I sharpen perfectly with my Lanskey kit and thought this would be the end of all solutions to get a spooky blade on my knives. I was right. This is an improvement over the standard "beautiful" stone, but I wasn't overly impressed with this improvement. In hindsight I would have preferred a leather strap for the final edge of my knives, straps not only polish the sharp edges of your knives TERRIBLE but also help support the blade of the knives. I still use this stone when sharpening knives, but…

If you want your knives to be razor sharp

This is where it comes in when you want your knives to be razor sharp. I was never interested in super-sharp knives (my husband always was) until I became more interested in cooking and trying to pick a whole chicken off the bone with a knife that I now think is dull. It was annoying. I bought my husband a Lansky set of ultra fine, super sapphire, medium and fine serrated cut diamonds for Father's Day. With that and the sapphire he was able to sharpen our ridiculously dull knives to a super…

Good sharpening stone, ideal for sharpening a blade

Okay, this stone isn't included in most Lansky sets. But if you buy a Lansky set, you have to buy this stone. It is one grade smaller than a fine stone and has a 1000 grit rating. It is excellent for applying a fine polish to the bevel of a knife blade. This is usually the last step in the grinding process. Of course, there is another grade of stone, the 2000 grit sapphire. But that's actually the stone that most people want. Tip #1: If you're buying a Lansky set, buy this stone as an…

I love Lansky on Cutlery & Knife Accessories

I grew up hunting and fishing and my dad always used the Lansky sharpener set this one comes with to take care of our sport knives. After buying my own pencil sharpener and figuring out how to use it properly, I can see why! This sharpening system may not be the most advanced or have the most accurate capabilities, but it will one day make a sharp blade if used properly. ) There are only 3 bricks in the set. This wouldn't be a problem, except that the best stone it contains is called "fine,"…
