It keeps and dries out the lettuce properly, which is important for good salads. The icing on the cake is that the Guzzini brand is a work of art. It's so pretty and fun that I really enjoy peeling the lettuce!

For a little more than the price of a large Oxo you get a superior great looking product made in Italy not China. The mechanism works very well and seems very reliable.
