Check the grains carefully for foreign objects.

Great beans, BUT, check the packaging for foreign objects. We were running beans through a Jura grinder and this little thing jammed the grinder. I had to disassemble the device and ended up turning it upside down and shaking it to remove the ham. Time will tell if this has caused permanent damage. It appears to be a small piece of shell or wood. Adding to the anxiety now is having to check over 2.2 pounds of beans before putting them in the car. That alone is enough to put me off the brand.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Waiting too long

To be honest this is MUCH better than the bitter 3# Starbucks French Roast packets I bought at Costco for years up until mid 2018. I brew about 12# coffee beans per year for regular coffee using a standard drip coffee maker and a Keurig 1 cup coffee maker. With this Lavazza Caffe Espresso, you'll enjoy a smooth taste on your taste buds as you sip in your mouth, and when you sip, there's a lot less of that bitter, gross Starbucks left on your tongue. By the way, I'm still looking for Starbucks…

Get ready for a blast from the past! Is this the twilight zone?

Lavazza coffee is usually fabulous, fresh and delicious. I really wanted to try their whole beans and the price was great so I ordered. It arrived today with an expiry date of 2/2021. Before opening, the smell wasn't very pleasant, it didn't smell like any of their ground varieties and appeared stale. As soon as I opened it and inhaled, my nostrils filled with an aroma reminiscent of coffee my great-grandmother had forgotten from the 1920s. Reluctantly and with a shrug, I cooked it, hoping to…

Updating the review due to my mistake. The bad review below about the terrible aftertaste was wrong. Tried the espresso coffee beans and he made a very good tasting espresso. The previous awful aftertaste (from the review below) was determined to be sour fresh milk and not coffee beans. These are good beans with a nice strong flavor and a smooth aftertaste. I recommend this product. I tried it because of the many good reviews and the cheap price. The aftertaste is very unpleasant. Almost…

Updated rating: Better than I thought

It was too good to be true. The price was very reasonable - about $5 a pound on sale. I bought three sachets on faith as I have had Lavazza in the past and love Super Crema and Gran Crema. I love dark roasts but not this blend. If it's on sale, it's worth trying. Update 26 Nov 18: Correction, I retract my original feedback. We used this coffee in a regular drip machine in the mornings. The problem is that my wife and I disagree on how much coffee to use when making coffee. Unfortunately, she…

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Sad packaging

Foreword to my comments: I have been roasting our coffee at home for six years, only occasionally buying roasted whole coffee beans. We've used Lavazza's Super Crema and Gran Crema many times in the past when I've run out of my own roast, usually in the winter, and have always been pleased with the results. I use Sylvia with a Rocky coffee grinder. Although it should be a "medium" roast, it's significantly darker. When I grind it on the same settings I use to roast espresso, gran crema, and…
