Layers Clear Stackable Raspberry Heatsink Review

Good set for a stack of Pi. A few more gaps allowed me to put the ASUS Tinker Board in first place. My LeCarre stack is buzzing now. (It serves as a prototype for edge security with Pi Hole, firewall and packet monitoring.)

My other stackable case has holes drilled for mounting fans. It's not like this. My Raspberry Pi kept shutting down because the temperature was over 80°C. Don't just rely on the heatsinks included in the kit, you'll need to install the fans somehow.

Assembly is intuitive and requires no instructions - small card included. I put 3 Pis and 1T SSD on disks. I secured the drive with a cable tie. There is more than enough space for micro SD cards and USB and eth0 ports. It's a DNS/PIHOLE/NSF cluster and it's nice to have everything in one place.

No fitment or quality issues. It was easy to assemble. I bought additional stands to adjust the height of each layer of Pi accessories. However, an SSD is not suitable because the holes on all sides are too small to install a drive. The only place you can attach it is at the top with double sided tape. One star deducted for that.

So it's pretty easy to put together even though I don't have tweezers with me. One thing that bothers me is the air space under the Pi, the gap is very small Also the bottom heatsink of the pi3b+ doesn't match the cutout. My solution is to turn it on its side and maybe 3D print a fan holder to suck air through it. It generally does what it says, but what more can you say for $15

I love this case and was happy with the heatsinks and a few tools. The case holds up great and I'm not worried about my rpis. The only complaint I had was that the threads on the washers were misaligned and therefore the body wobbled slightly unless care was taken to keep all corner posts in line. Quite difficult to assemble, make sure you do it on a hard surface with some patience. Overall happy with the purchase

Arrived quickly. Easy assembly even for the inexperienced. Looks nice. You get 4 clear acrylic plates to mount the Pi 4 on and a top plate for the demo which I didn't use because I have an ice cooler on the Pi. The kit includes all the necessary racks and heatsinks for 4-Pi boards. I would recommend not using the included silver screws to attach the Pi to the board, but instead using a slightly longer black nylon stand which looks better and allows more airflow under each Pi.
