Terrible design, obviously no leatherworkers.

Terrible design. Not sure who gave a good review but the way the tip of the chisel is constructed is wrong and clearly not suitable for leather. It has a kind of file that catches when pulled out of the leather and ends up just sealing the hole you drilled in the leather. Please do not buy this item - it is not even worth a small price.

Pros
  • Suggested Use: 1 Prong is used to fill a square position or for separate punching and positioning. 2 prongs are used to punch holes in curves or short distances. 4 teeth is the commonly used specification for shorter straight lines used for straight line drilling. Often used for cutting for a long time, 6 teeth is the most commonly used specification.
Cons
  • Almost everything is ok

Worst Leather Chisel Ever

I have worked with leather for many years and these lace chisels are the worst I have ever used. The edges of the tines are cut with a ruff, leaving a serrated edge that prevents the tines from being easily pulled out of the skin. I spent 4 hours making the holster and started punching holes for the laces and had to dig out the stamp which broke some of the holes. It was custom made for someone and was no longer for sale in any condition. For those who work with leather I would not recommend…

Pros
  • Good performance: The pointed teeth of the leather chisel are evenly spaced, making it good for creating clean and even holes in the leather, which is a good help in completing your leather work.
Cons
  • ill thought out

Ok Punch Hole Punches

If you're just starting out in leather and want to save some money, maybe you can do better. The furthest punch has a hard time getting through the skin, maybe it's my hammer or my technique or heck maybe it's just physics (dissipating energy over more area) but the two prongs work well, terribly well, honestly, when they speak, they dig into your skin. Poly cutting board. Maybe the next wider one will work better. I'll try to update this later. But now I wholeheartedly recommend looking into a

Pros
  • Easy to Use: Advanced design, the leather hole punch has dents on the sides, which can increase friction, prevent slipping and hold comfortably, making the punching process safer and more convenient.
Cons
  • Non-Automatic

Be careful what you order.

I thought I'd buy a set of Crafttool design punches. The set was much cheaper but also of much lower quality. There doesn't seem to be a standard for these tools. The 4mm Crafttool punch is a punch with 4mm tooth spacing. The set I received is 4mm center to center on the prongs. So the crafttool makes 5 stitch holes per inch, while the one I have makes 5 holes for every 5/8 inch. A professional tanner might know this, but as a beginner I didn't realize that different manufacturers use different

Pros
  • Leather Stamping Size: DIY diamond lace chisel has 4 regular sizes, 1/2/4/6 prongs, each leather stamping tool size has applicable volume, you can choose the size according to your needs.
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
