This should be your go-to lens

Great lens! I would recommend starting with this lens. I first bought the 18-56 zoom and regretted it. This lens is very well made. It's accurate and compact. It makes wearing a t-shirt easier.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • It worries me

I was disappointed too. I love this lens

I was also the first to buy 18-56. Also disappointed. I love this lens. I'm just an amateur photographer learning the craft and the shallow depth of field with this lens just amazes me. Have fun!

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Band

Underrated and (probably) overpriced

IMHO this is the most underrated lens in the TL range. It will take time to learn, but once you "feel" it, this lightweight, unobtrusive lens delivers stunning images. I think if pixel peeping is your goal, this might not be for you (but again, it's not bad, to be honest). If your goal is the Leica "look" and stunning pictures, this is a good choice.

Pros
  • twinkles
Cons
  • Minor issues

Leica now follows Sony

Agree there are cl and M10 and Sony a6500 and R7 mk4. I have nothing to grind with all four. Obviously Leica is chasing Sony right now. Zeiss has Sony, Leica has firmly Panasonic. Sony also bought Minolta and got all the old Leica knowledge from years past. Which cluster. Sony and Zeiss take better pictures. On the Leica M, some lenses can't handle 24 MP. At least for now. Let's hope that when Leica releases new lenses for the SL2, they'll look good on the CL too. Ironically, Sony has already…

Pros
  • Normal price
Cons
  • Difficult to remember but it was

Fixed with variable aperture. Hm?

The only lens I've used on the T (don't get me started on that crappy 18-55). Very sharp, but it's hampered by the T's poor autofocus, and it's not really an f2. As you get closer to the subject, the camera automatically stops at f/2.8. This should be the first variable aperture fix I've ever heard of. I'd be surprised to know that Leica couldn't design a lens that was sharp enough wide open when you're up close, so they must have done it to save on costs. Pretty silly considering that lens…

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Low maintainability
