The jury is still out. in docking stations

I ordered this docking station after checking other options and decided on the updated version (Pro) because the normal reviews were so mixed with problems when turning it on fully had the laptop. The package came brand new from the seller and in a sealed box (the seller was great). Set up the dock and turn on the laptop and everything worked fine until I unplugged the laptop to go on a trip. When I came back the station didn't fully recognize the laptop, the same problems as the other model…

The first one was absolute rubbish, but Lenovo's support rocks.

UPDATE: There was one star originally. Had problems with the original device for almost a year and ended up calling Lenovo support and waiting for a workaround. After a brief pleasant phone call unrelated to attempting to resolve an issue I was already attempting to resolve, Lenovo sent a replacement NIGHT! And it works perfectly. so happy now moral of the story. If you encounter any problems, please feel free to contact Lenovo Support. I only wish I had contacted them sooner. It's garbage. I…

Works well on docking stations

Bought to dock my Lenovo X1 (6th gen) with 3 external drives, 2 monitors, card reader, my speakers and an external DVD player. They all work as expected and I have no problems disconnecting and reconnecting without shutting down the system. In fact, it works 24/7 but in sleep mode. A bit pricey but worth it for the peace of mind.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Some small things

Poor Design: Docking stations

My first one was covered in some kind of sticky adhesive. The seller quickly exchanged it and said they have issues with the entire print run. Unfortunately, the replacement had problems from day one. Although firmly seated and aligned with the pins, the lock often fails to engage. I have found that the lock engages fully when I rotate it on the pins after installation. That doesn't mean it works. Both of my monitors have constant problems. They flicker and go out, have distortion and noise…

The only thing more useful on the table is a computer.

Expensive and extremely useful. I bought it for myself and not for any company so I really had to weigh convenience against price. I use my 7th Gen X1 Carbon on this station and it has made my daily laptop porting rituals a lot easier. I take it out of my bag, put it on the dock and move the slider, it loads and connects to the LAN, scanner and printer and instantly backs up the hard drive and my dual monitor. Seriously, it's that simple. When the days are over I just slide it to the left and…

Home office essential

This device allows me to connect my ThinkPad T490 to a large screen dual monitor system to do legal work from my home office in the "safe house" era. My only real complaint is the lack of documentation on exactly how this is supposed to work; Trial and experimentation is the only way to find out. The laptop is snapped into the docking slots on the docking station, and then the assembly with the various connectors on the left is plugged into the corresponding connectors on the left side of the…
