This is a well made product. As others have said, it securely holds a standard 1 liter Nalgene bottle. I add a small carabiner to the locking cord and attach it to the loop on the cap of the Nalgene bottle. This prevents accidental loss of the bottle when hiking over rocks or sliding down steep slopes, especially when snowshoeing in winter.

I'm an experienced hiker and I'm a picky eater when it comes to bottle cages. They should hold the bottle securely, not wobble, and be easy to remove and replace the Nalgene 1 liter bottle with one hand. This carrier meets all these criteria 100%. If there's a downside, it's the belt loop. It's not regulated. This is a wide stitched nylon strap, very strong, beautiful and sturdy, but it cannot be adjusted to fit different waist belt sizes.
