We brace our tailgate with a plastic wedge, but we recently replaced the carpet with hardwood flooring and now the gap is too big and the wedge doesn't work. (slides right under the door) so I was looking for an alternative and came across this cute little guy and it works great! Good weight to hold the door and he is very cute! If you are using this on a non-carpet/rough floor such as a B. a tile or hardwood floor, you may need to make some changes. I had to apply hot glue to the creature's butt so it could do its job! It was a pretty good weight for a doorstop, but it tended to skid across the floor until I did. So far this solution is working after a few months but I can see where I might need to reapply hot glue once the stickiness wears off.
