Mediocre router, best among networking products

I did a lot of research before buying a new router and the Linksys E2500 was mentioned all the time. Now that I've had the router for a month, I have to say I'm more disappointed than impressed. My main needs were speed and signal strength. While speed is normal, there are no complaints. Here are the cons: - Poor or intermittent signal strength. I live in a Rambler, 1500 square feet per floor. My router is downstairs in the office. From my upstairs bedroom, the signal is sometimes good…

Works but installation CD is useless

Difficult to install as it comes with an installation CD which is not compatible with the latest operating systems and the Linksys website is a bit outdated and roundabout in the guide. You must use the admin pages to set it up. The CD is unlikely to work on currently running operating systems. It works though, so if you need a router it will work. Note, however, that the intended installation process will likely not work on your computer. The latest firmware is currently installed, so don't…

Good product, installation was a bit confusing.

I updated our router after our 5 year old started to sparkle a bit. So far, the WiFi connection has been stable with a good range. My reason for only giving it 3 stars is due to the installation process. I'm no tech genius, but I know enough to be the guy my parents call when they're in trouble. There were two issues with setting up this router, the first was that you must use the CD to complete the setup (my computer doesn't have a CD drive like many others) and if you don't have a CD drive…

  • Stylish and modern design

Good router, Cisco quality, range could be better

This router replaces my old Linksys G+ MIMO router. The old one only had freezing issues and had to be restarted at least once a week. I bought it on the recommendation of a friend and so far it has met all my expectations. save one. OFFER! The router is easy to set up, and enabling/disabling a 5GHz channel is as simple as adding or unchecking a checkbox. I left the 5GHz channel on to get the benefits up close, but very few of my devices support 5GHz, so I can change that channel back to 2.5GHz

GUEST WIFI DOES NOT WORK IN "ACCESS POINT " MODE

This may not be a problem for most users, but it is a determining factor for those who already have a router (e.g. built into their Cable/DSL modem) and plan to use the Linksys E2500 as a Access Using the E2500 as an access point (the technical term is "cascading") is very simple once you understand the Linksys logic: connect one of its LAN ports (blue ports numbered 1-4) to the LAN port of your original router and disable DHCP on the E250. Disabling DHCP in the UI also disables NAT, turning…

Significant slowdown over Wi-Fi and useless tech support

I've noticed a significant slowdown with this router. I've tried it on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz and both work poorly. Technical support contacted. Initially, it took weeks to set up a troubleshooting session. When it finally happened the technician wasted 2 hours of my time filming in the dark. The final verdict is there is a problem with my router and I need to buy a new one because my warranty has expired. Of course, the new product will not be a Linksys product. Here are some speed test stats…

  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Suitable for home use but has a SECURITY ERROR

Works great after 3 hours of installation. The connection utility started. It ended up saying my installation was incomplete. However, I found that I was able to connect to the internet (so something must have been working) where I found instructions on disabling my firewall provided by the virus software. I did this and ran the setup again with the same result. To find out what went wrong, I tried to connect directly to the router with the default address (192.168.1.1), but the address was not

Linksys E2500 Wireless Router

I bought this router to replace the same make and model as before, I was expecting it to be an upgraded model with the same model number. Some came with an extra USB port as shown in the picture but when they arrived they didn't have an update either. When you buy this Linksys E2500 (N600) Advanced Synchronous Dual Band Wireless-N Router, don't expect it to come with a USB port.

Pros
  • Expensive but valuable

E2500 V2 installed in place of Don V3

Bought from Revain on Black Friday for a pretty good price ($45). Still not returned despite the following issues as not worth the hassle of reconfiguring a new device. 1) The website clearly shows the USB port on the back. This is E2500 V3. I received the E2500 V2 without a USB port. The USB port makes it easy to add new devices (guests, etc.). 2) Not sure if this applies to V3 as there are different firmware and support software versions, but V2 CISCO Connect software is out of date.
