The big brother of my LSG308 smart switches

I have used several LGS308 switches in my network and have been happy with them. So when I added a few servers with multiple NICs to rooms that already had multiple devices, I needed a managed switch with more ports. The LGS318 is functionally identical to the LGS308 and seems like a logical choice. This particular switch was ordered to support the further expansion of my networks. By the way, if you are used to LGS308, LGS318 is much larger.

Pros
  • 18 Gigabit Ethernet ports
Cons
  • I have doubts

Fantastic switch - fantastic value.

Used - like new but repackaged. The switch replaced a cheap TP-Link "smart" switch (which sucked) and worked fine. First of all, it was necessary to extend the bandwidth to another point in the house without bandwidth loss, so the two-wire link aggregation to the main switch was used and there were no problems. Had a few issues getting NTP to work (couldn't connect from outside, so pointed to the pfsense box and worked fine) but otherwise great. Oddly, it seems to be faster than the stupid…

Pros
  • Easy to set up and use
Cons
  • Sad packaging

problems began.

Linksys Business LGS308 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Switch Works great, 5 stars. But now it's missing. All the lights go out and nothing works. I have to turn it off and on again to restore it. I wanted to update the firmware and it's gone. The firmware has not been updated since 2014. You might want to look into a more modern piece of iron or buy an extended warranty.

Pros
  • EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) Compliant 802.3az
Cons
  • No Insurance

Great little module with SNMP!

I needed a small, inexpensive appliance to run a small server farm at home. I also use monitoring tools to manage traffic spikes and usage. This device was easy to set up and can be queried for performance metrics via SNMP. Device control is very simple but powerful. You have control over many advanced settings without having to have CCNA to understand.

Pros
  • Advanced Network Security
Cons
  • Without Auto Mode
