Excellent PoE Switch for Networking Products

The main reason I chose this switch was the 192W power budget. I didn't need half of it, but the next size up is about 10 watts smaller. Initial power-up takes longer to boot than non-PoE switches. In addition to the IP address and other restrictions, it must take into account the power requirements. However, I installed this switch three months ago to connect and power multiple wireless access points in a large multi-story building. The setting is made via the browser. After several reboots…

Works like a champion among networking products

I've been using this switch for several months now and have never regretted my purchase. Using with 6 POE cameras plus 2 computers is fine. Easy to use interface and lots of options. There's no need to use the UI unless you're experienced with switching, so don't be intimidated. The fan is quite noisy but I'm used to it as we have similar switches at work and they all make the same noise (I think it's a Netgear thing). Even our Cisco switches make the same fan noise. I have it in the garage so…

Great switch with loud fans.

Works great. Setup is easy once you get the hang of it. The Smart Control Center utility is completely unnecessary. I have an Asus gaming router connected to my Century Link modem. Netgear support said just plug an Asus ethernet cable into the Prosafe switch. Then login to your Asus router and see if it is recognized in the client list. It did, so I saw the DHCP address it had and typed that address into a web browser. Then I came to the switch, entered the password and logged into the Netgear…

Worst customer service/support ever.

I updated the firmware and the switch is stuck. entered a constant reboot loop. Customer support is disgusting. Ridiculous. They wait 1 hour then they say "You need to speak to Prosafe support" and then pretend you wait another 2 hours. Outrageous! Your RMA system is outdated. I was told they ethered it the next day only to call back a week later to find out it hadn't shipped yet. So I got a different RMA number. Now 3 days have passed. look elsewhere

Netgear ProSAFE is ProJUNK!

We have purchased many Netgear Prosafe switches over the years, most of them from Revain. It can honestly be said that about 80% of them failed at some point, usually in just a few months. This is no exaggeration. They just stop working, either lose all power or stop using PoE power, or just get stuck in a reboot loop. Netgear claims their Prosafe products come with a lifetime replacement guarantee, so I bought knowing they would at least be replaced. HOWEVER, Netgear switches purchased "second

Amazing reliability. Great switch.

I've been using this switch for almost a year now and it has never failed *knock on wood*. I like how reliable it is. It's the only managed switch I've ever owned, so I can't really compare it to anything else, but I feel the web interface leaves a lot to be desired. There are 20 devices connected to this switch, 17 of which are connected to the power supply. this switch over ethernet (14 VOIP phones and 3 ethernet powered access points). This thing feeds them all like a champ. However, I did…

No drama: A solution for cameras left alone for 6 months

I installed two of these and found them to be a top notch solution for powering and running 17 POE IP -Cameras and devices are smart home type. One of these counters has been operational for 18 months while the others have been operational for 2 months at different locations. if I periodically restart them remotely as a maintenance procedure. I was able to remove a few smaller daisy chain switches and POE hubs to save space and keep my equipment closet cool (heat is the enemy of most…

Excellent medium duty switch

This is a good reliable switch. It supports IGMP and other features I was looking for. I tried to emphasize this by sending 12 800MB multicast video streams to him, with 12 resolvers each pulling a different stream. The Switch handled it flawlessly, so I'm very happy with its performance.

Pros
  • One year trial period

  • Low repairability

Well made but not suitable for complex configurations

I have been using this product for six years. The main functions - simple network without VLAN, PoE for some devices - worked reliably. Unfortunately, the high-end features have never been very reliable. The control screens for VLAN setup, routing, etc. are clunky. Worse, individual ports can get stuck in an unusable state (e.g. trying to remove them from VLAN 1 by default). Sometimes when you do something like install, reset, install, reset, . will eventually put the port in good operating…
