best price for the best gesso available to civilians

I started Liquitex in art school because my painting professor recommended it. in later years I switched to other brands to save money. I've realized how much better this gesso is in every way that can be measured. whiter, more flexible, more opaque, more coverage, more teeth and can be used with many different mediums including oil and acrylic. these are the best levkas. and here at Revain this is the best price almost twice from the local art store, HALF cheaper!

My favorite plaster: Colors

I've tried several different plasters and sometimes it's difficult to find a good balance between thickness and opacity. This gesso is relatively thin but very opaque. More recently I've used it to prep stretched fabric for acrylic paint and it worked very well, especially compared to the basic version (which was more yellowish in hue and required more layers). Not only is it really good for surface prep, I like to mix it with my lower quality acrylic paints to make it more opaque or matte…

Terrible, liquid and thin

I'm a professional artist. This is by far the worst gesso I have ever used, including many cheap "student quality" brands. It's incredibly runny, thin and doesn't cover well. I have a $1 bottle of crappy craft paint that has the best viscosity. I understand that Liquitex makes a thicker version of their plaster as well, but other professional plaster brands were so thick that I had to gouge them out with a knife and thin them out for my projects. I still prefer this over this alternative…

Excellent paintability

I'm not sure if this is the right product but this program won't let me undo this post. So this post is suitable for both regular and extra heavy cast. The product I received was Liquitex Super Heavy Body Primer but I have used both. This product (and regular gesso) was excellent and great for scraping off extra layers on store bought stretched canvases as well as creating textures. I find that if you really like the caking of oil paint, I highly recommend adding more gesso. I believe if I…

Works as advertised

I experimented with acrylic painting on wood, allowing the grain of the wood to show through. However, some woods do not resist paint without a binder. This is where this Liquitex clear plaster comes into play. I made a test patch of varying thicknesses on the back of the panel I was painting. As the instructions say, if you use very, very thin, the layer will turn milky white and lose transparency. I used it on a cedar panel that was finely sanded. (For many years I don't know if cedarwood…

Works well in paint

This is my first gesso so I can't compare to other brands. I used this in an adult coloring book to prepare the paper for a humid environment. I drew a few test pages and let them dry (little time, but I live in a warm climate). The page feels rough, almost like sandpaper, it definitely added some teeth to the paper. The color of the paper has also changed slightly, now it's a little more off-white. I have tested the following materials over Gesso Clear Color Pencils: Prismacolor: Works very…
