Doesn't quite do the job

Doesn't quite do the job, too big to fit in the hole where the handle is. I ended up going for the string trick, which can also be a bit disappointing.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • Expandable

Not needed best in replacement parts

Works when removing the handle but gets in the way when installing. You may need to remove and install the handle without this. I bought this for my first attempt at changing knobs and quickly learned how to do it.

Pros
  • clear even to the old
Cons
  • for pensioners

LOL You don't need that

I guess I should have watched a video on how to use this tool before buying it. Totally useless as you still need a hook or rope to pull the spring forward before using it. I simply used string to pull the spring forward and attach the new buttons and then pulled the string out. It took me 30 minutes to replace all 4 knobs on my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500. This is a $6 tool but totally useless.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Expensive Insurance

Smart solution to a complex design

For some reason manufacturers have to overcomplicate the design of a simple door handle. What's wrong with being able to slide the handle the way it came out? This tool helps overcome one of the design flaws of this grip, but some vehicles require the panel to be removed to access the grip wiring and some have an anti-theft device which makes removal a bit more difficult. If you do more than just remove the handle and immediately install a new one, you'll have to use a hook or something to pull

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
