Required for soldering automotive cables.

Ideal for soldering automotive wiring, especially short wires that are difficult to work with. Also good for pulling wires out of a bundle so they can be soldered on without damaging other wires. It's magnetic, so there's almost always something to connect to. The magnet is strong enough as long as it is placed on flat ground.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Durability

Exactly what I was looking for

Keeping wires in places that aren't on the workbench or in hard to reach places is always a problem. This tool is well suited for the task that I expected. I love the size and versatility of magnet wire holders. For some automotive applications I expect that the holders can be mounted directly to the metal of the car. I would like the alligator clips to rotate in the mounts, that feature would provide all I need.

Lisle Wire Holder - Welding Equipment and Accessories

I have used the Lisle 55000 Wire Holder for electrical work for many years. I think it's a smart idea. It holds the wires together without moving when soldering and the magnet has enough strength when the wires aren't pulling on it. I have recommended them to many friends who do electrical work. They are great for work under car dashboards or on heavy equipment where wires need to be held in place before soldering. I bought a spare in case I lose mine because once you get used to it it will be…

One of my favorite little Lilse instruments.

If you solder something, you really need something like this. Soldering is very easy. I hate to think back to my earlier build of various home made terminals which nonetheless required all sorts of cumbersome maneuvers involving a hot soldering iron, solder and two hot components or wires I wanted to solder together. The little tool works great. The wrist joints are detachable and attached with magnets; and the base itself is a magnet that can be used to attach to a frame or nearby metal object

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Almost never

How did I solder without before?

I've had these soldering tools on my workbench but this takes them to a whole new level. This tool is EPIC! This makes soldering wires in the car so easy. Especially under the hood. The arms and base are magnetic so they attach to any metal, leaving your hand free for the soldering iron and solder. This is how I get the perfect connection every time! When doing any type of wiring on a vehicle, upping your game is absolutely essential. They're in all my tool boxes. I even attached it to my tool…

These little pleasures make an electronics repairman's dream come true! Not only do they have the correct clip length, but they actually come in three parts. Each clamp has a small cylinder to which it attaches via a magnet on the side of the upright post. These magnets attach to the post and the post also has a very strong magnet at the base. This allows you to place this device firmly and securely on any metal surface. I have a small hobby anvil. Tech High attached this tool to the top…
