It is definitely waterproof. I put a thermos filled with ice water in a pannier and have to put it down to close it. drive 20 km. I took a water break. Unfortunately, I didn't screw the lid of the thermos flask all the way on. So I was surprised that there was cold water in the bag. Not a single leak. I actually smiled and said. Definitely a nice bag

I bought this bag because I could detach it from my bike rack and use it as a shoulder bag. Have used it on several bike rides and was not disappointed. Velcro is very secure and hasn't come loose. It's big enough for me to hold two mountain bike inner tubes, a tool kit, a couple of carbon dioxide bottles, a bike lock, a small pack of wet wipes, a wallet and a cell phone.

I am very happy with this bag. It holds its shape very well due to the hard sides and is larger than any other backpack I've used. I can't guarantee how waterproof it actually is, but the zips are very similar to those on my very expensive raincoat. It came with a rain cover which I will never use. I don't think you will be disappointed if you buy this bag. Two velcro straps at the bottom and one at the front keep the bag securely in place without shifting it on the rack.
