Great for grilling cheese

I use these a lot in my square pan. Ideal for grilled cheese. Preheat a skillet with a lid on the pan, then lift the lid (using an oven mitt), place the prepared sandwich in, cover and voila - you've toasted both sides at once.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Trade-in item

Great for pressed sandwiches

I bought these to give to a friend. I'll get one now. Great for pressed sandwiches, everyone thinks it's gourmet. I gave it to him along with the frying pan. He loves her. Just got Samsung's top of the range open grate gas range with a build pan, this press is great. And it's American made and safe, lead free.

Mailed press.? Oh, it's all right.

I wanted to flavor it but when I applied the oil I noticed it cracked in three places. I haven't even used it yet. Lodge sent an email so we'll see how it goes, but this seems to be a fairly common issue. If it's ok I'll just use it. I live in the middle of nowhere to return or replace this. Updates: Well apparently this is quite normal. The bubble of the original wort has just burst. And will disappear with proper use and care.

Great panini press!

This press makes the best paninis! I agree with the reviewer who said that sometimes the simplest tools work best. Rivals any panini you could get at a restaurant for a fraction of the cost, and you don't have another storage device that does just one thing. It looks like it would serve well when roasting meat as well. My personal favorite feature is that unlike many panini presses and similar devices, it doesn't have non-stick coatings like Teflon which are lethal to my birds and not so good…

  • Satisfied so far

seems to be working pretty well so far

I just got this press and have used it a few times already. It seems to be working quite well so far. I haven't seasoned it yet, but it really doesn't stick to much, no more than my old electric panny press. It's decently weighted, but you'll need to apply a lot of pressure and hold it down if you like deep grill marks. I've found that on gas #3 it leaves slight grill marks, but melts the cheese really well, so the next sandwich can be turned up a notch to see if the grill marks darken without…

works for me - women

Works reasonably well. . . I have no reason to compare. I preheat it on the included griddle and flip the sammy to brown it even more. I press hard enough that the grill lines snap back up easily enough after flipping. This stands as one of the rare Unitaxers I've allowed in the kitchen that I have no regrets about. I think what I like best is that this is an inexpensive grill pan that sammys damn well and will also last a lifetime if I care for it properly. I keep it in my grill pan so it…

Top of the litter! - Outdoors

Since shipping and customer service are a significant part of the price I'm willing to pay I have to say they were fine. Rating for the product itself. This is very hard work, both in design and in production. It's as good or better than any of the hundreds of other cast irons I've worked with over the decades. I should note that I did not test how well the cast iron "seasoned". I've seasoned a large batch of my cast iron cooking products at least twice. But I made this condiment before I…

A simple and effective solution that has proven itself.

Who doesn't love Panini? Not me, that's for sure, but I *despise* the idea of other electronics sitting in a closet and taking up space; The electronic panini machine is to be buried to join the mountain of other devices that have been reduced to scrap after electrical shorts, broken switches, damaged wires or a power surge. That risk doesn't exist with this cast iron that's meant to last long after you and I are gone. The finish is superb, right out of the box, and the weight is such that it…

A decent one-tasker (with tips and recipes).

I've been obsessed with cast iron lately. I collected Lodge products and eventually this little station wagon came about. I hesitated a little. As I said, it's single tasking. Some reviewers say they use it for other things like grilled chicken and the like. But I was about to make panini. In the end I just decided to go after the bull and get it. And boy am I glad I did! There are several ways you can use this article. The Lodge grill pan works best because the ridges on the bottom of the pan…
