Good refractometer for the money :)

Good solid refractometer. Calibrate it with fresh extra virgin olive oil at 71.5 Brix, then compare to good quality local commercial honey (<18.5% H2O) for accuracy. DO NOT calibrate with distilled water!

Great for measuring honey moisture content

I am happy with this refractometer for measuring moisture content in my honey. The digital scale on the instrument can be focused with the eyepiece. And the blue and white contrast line is easy to distinguish. Gives you a high level of confidence in the moisture content of your honey. It was surprising (although it makes sense) to see the variability from frame to frame. And it's even more amazing to see that the moisture content of a box of perfectly sealed honey is only 18.5%.
