Description of ๐Ÿšต Enhance Your Mountain Biking Experience with LOOK X-Track Mountain Pedals

Generally speaking, the greater the contact surface, the more efficiently energy is transferred. On the other hand, the greater the contact surface, the more the pedal will weigh. The challenge faced by their engineers was therefore, to identify the zones that are useful for energy transmission and then optimize the pedal design in order to limit any that are unused. This task allowed LOOK to engineer a pedal with the best weight / contact surface ratio on the market. Lateral contact support guides your foot in finding your pedal and provides you a point of contact even if you have not yet engaged the cleat. This wide contact area prevents your foot from sliding on the pedal body and offers consistent and reassuring support. The mechanism works regardless of external conditions (in the mud, forces are significantly different from those encountered when dry), more space allows for the shedding of various foreign matter (mud, sand). These zones give the user a constant and stable feeling of being securely clip-ped in, in all conditions. An adjustable tension screw al-lows you to fine-tune the entry/release resistance to your perso-nal skill level. SPD Compatible.

Why don't pedals last longer?

There are currently about 5 pairs of broken Shimano pedals with no clips in the MTB closet of death so sorry Shimano but I'm out. Decided to try the Clipless Look X-Track while they feel good, but it's too early to say how well they will hold up over the long term.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Great for gravel, best in parts and components

I bought these for my Diamondback Hanjoo gravel bike. So far I am very happy with the pedals. I used to have Crank Brothers Eierschlรคger pedals, they were fine, but I really like the large surface area of these pedals. Easy on and off with SPD interface. The actuating force can be adjusted very easily.

Good pedal for sport

I bought a more expensive carbon model for a road bike and these base models are for a flat bar city bike. Both use the same cleats and have the same basic features (adjustable tension, float height, and reversible step-in). The difference is only in the material and a little more weight, although it's so insignificant that I can't tell. Very happy with the product and the buying experience.

  • Decent performance

Larger platform, can use Shimano SPD spikes, a bit heavy

Bought these because I was looking for a SPD with a larger platform. The pedals are a little stiff, but I don't think you'll gain much by going to Race or Race Carbon. The pedals come with X-Track cleats, which offer a little more lift than Shimano cleats, which is great for my knees. On-off is as instinctive as a Shimano, the wider contact zone is handy for commuting when trying to hold on. I use them with the Fizik Terra X5 and love the combination.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Not sure

Poor quality and customer service from Look - I'll stick with Shimano

A week after installing these pedals on the Nordic Track indoor bike, the left pedal began to rattle every time the pedal was pressed. Not a faint click like cleat to pedal contact, but the axle does rattle and make a loud noise and audible rattle through the cycling shoe. There is also play in the axis of the pedal. I replaced an old Shimano pedal set to make sure it wasn't coming from somewhere on the bike itself. No rattling with Shimano pedals. We contacted Look directly. You will notโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes

  • Nothing here
