These socks fit perfectly and are very comfortable. I like them and they look good too, but who looks at your legs. I had to change the rating, on the second wear the sock was rubbed on a sock. Just put them on for a weekend in the snow, sledding in cheap winter boots and snowboarding the next in snowboard boots. The weather fluctuated between 30 and 55 degrees. Okay, for just over $10 I wasn't expecting much and I was right. I ordered a large as it was the largest size available and I wear a US 11. They fit right out of the box so I expect they will get even tighter after washing. They are far from heavy in weight/thickness but again. i get what i pay for As for "above the calf", well I'm 6ft 2 and not exactly "leaggy" but they barely reach my calves and after washing I doubt they'll be much better.
