LoveRPI 802.11n USB Dongle = Recycle Bin

Causes boot loop on Amlogic libre SBC computer and also causes the device to reboot on every connection. Tried different power sources. The iPad's 10-watt power adapter didn't work either. Dongle is annoying.

I love these cards good for computers and accessories

I love these cards! No hassle with Linux (and thus Raspberry distros) once you know how to set them up. Included in Kernel 4.4: CONFIG_STAGING=y and CONFIG_R8188EU=m. Do this in advance and it will connect immediately. I keep ordering them because they are very comfortable and the range is surprisingly good. For six bucks you can't go wrong!

Pros
  • positive only
Cons
  • sad packaging

Works great with my RG350M handheld game console!

Finding a Wi-Fi adapter with the RTL8188EU chipset is difficult, as most of the ads even state which chipset the adapter uses. I got this and after some trouble loading the driver I was able to get it to work. The driver included with Rogue was not built for the kernel you are using. I was able to pull and use the driver from my standard RG350M SD card. So far the adapter has worked great for my needs!

Pros
  • Entertaining
Cons
  • Some bugs

Works almost "easy "

I bought this with a Raspberry Pi 2B to build a wireless NAS. After installing OpenMediaVault 5.x and plugging in this dongle, the next boot seems to work, but towards the end when the activity light goes out and the WiFi interface has no IP address. After some googling I found that in such cases the wpa_supplicant service needs to be restarted. Commands can be added to a new systemd service to do this automatically, but I chose to put them in /.bashrcsudo killall wpa_supplicantsudo…

This works fine on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Windows

I bought this for a laptop whose wifi has died. It is a dual boot of Windows 7 and Ubuntu. I took a chance that it would work and it did. For Ubuntu 14.04 it was a simple plugin and I was on wifi. For Windows 7 it was (of course) a different story. Long story short, I found out it was a Realtek USB WiFi device. To find the driver just google "Realtek RTL8188eu usb wifi windows 7" and you will find the driver. The usual automatic Windows method "search for driver" does not find the driver for…

  • It's great

Good for a small NAS setup but with some caveats.

Bought to power my Linux NAS, this little beast works perfectly - most major Linux distributions seem to recognize it without you having to download a non-free module to add it to your kernel . One caveat is that at 150Mbps when 3 people access it at the same time it can be a bit choking - one person is transferring a large file to the NAS and two are streaming HD video from the NAS, well you're stuttering the video. Mine has since moved to a Raspberry Pi, which does less stressful tasks where…

Pros
  • Pretty to look at

  • Infinitely sluggish

Plug and play as I wanted

While I can't speak at speed as I'm far from it, I've had no trouble using it with my laptop running OS Unix from a to connect flash drive (Knoppix). My laptop is too new and I couldn't run the built in Wi-Fi so I looked for something for the Raspberry Pi hoping there would be no conflicts and I wouldn't have any trouble connecting to the internet. If there's an issue I should mention that there can be connectivity issues if there are too many obstacles in the way, but I just move the key I'm…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
