The software is a little clunky, but the hardware works great.

Installed and connected 4 panels to one channel with no problems. The BIOS software is a bit dated and unreliable, but it does the job and initializes the 4-drive RAID 5 array very quickly. I was really nervous because the price in this listing is significantly lower than the $500 price I've seen for this card. in most places. It arrived appearing to be a brand new item in its original sealed anti-static packaging.

Pros
  • RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Watch out for overheating and OEM cards that can be resold

My card is running at a SUPER hot temperature of 112°C. I had stability issues so I contacted Broadcom. They made me aware of the heating problems. WARNING - if you like a quiet system, you can turn off the fans when the system is not busy - you can't do that with this card (at least not mine!) My next graphics card, which would be great if the card could do it would not turn off his fans when not playing! The MegaRAID Storage Manager software for the card will show the temperature - it should…

Pros
  • Eight internal SATA + SAS 6Gb/s ports
Cons
  • Very expensive

Cards not working optimally inside

I bought 2 MegaRAID 9266-8i cards and both of them are not working. The motherboard is not released and locked with any card. I've been using 3Ware/LSI/Avago/Now Broadcom cards for over a decade and this is the first time I've had problems. I'll keep working to make sure it's not my fault and that there's something wrong with this card the motherboard's supermicro server board and go from there, but it just locks the computer on mail and won't do anything if You let him sit for 20 minutes. I…
