Type of review

I have purchased 2 of these in the last year for 2 different scenarios.#1- I have a long dark hallway with a light switch at both ends controlling a row of dimmable flood type LED lights. I want the motion sensor to turn the lights on when the front door opens. This switch works for that purpose BUT, the dimmer at the other end of the hall will no longer control the lights. Per the instructions with this Lutron, I have to install a compatable Lutron dimmer switch at the other end of the hall.so

Lutron MSCL-OP153M motion sensor

If you are not into programming electronics, then this is not the dimmer/motion sensor for you. First thing I did was read the directions supplied, figured I had it nailed. Installing was a 'piece of cake' - there is no 'neutral' involved, just the green wire (ground) and the black (hot) wires. I wrote down everything I felt I needed to do since I did not want the factory defaults, 5 minutes of no activity before turning off. I wanted the 1 minute off option and it took me about a 1/2 hour to…

Pros
  • My previous switch stopped working, ordered this one for a replacement.
Cons
  • Motion detection range may be limited

Works as advertised

It works as advertised. It senses you right away and you can set how long light stays on after motion is detected. I set mine for 3 minutes. Programming is a little tricky but if you follow the written instructions it works perfectly

Pros
  • ‎Automatically
Cons
  • May not work consistently in spaces with bright natural light or sunlight

Works great, looks great!

I have installed these motion dimmers in the bathrooms and laundry rooms of both my previous and current house, and they are just about perfect. Installation is as simple as replacing with any other "dumb" switch, with no neutral required, and they work perfectly in a 3-way application, even if the other switch is just a regular mechanical switch. If you only need a basic motion sensor switch, just wire it up exactly as the old switch, and you're good to go. If you want to tinker and get the…
