REALLY WORKS in pipe heating cable

I have a baseboard (plumbing) heater for my house in northern Maine. My basement froze when we suddenly dropped below 20 degrees one night. If there are pipes near a wall in the basement and they aren't insulated, there's a chance those pipes will freeze, especially if some air seeps through them. Solution: Install this pipeline. Keep in mind that you will need to wrap it around the pipe, so about 6 feet of pipe requires 24 feet of heating cable.

Pros
  • Built-in thermostat
Cons
  • Unusable features

Prevents pipes from freezing and automatically!

Pros: Prevents pipes from freezing, Easy to install, Auto on/off Cons: Sensitive/fragile thermal sensor. up to 15 degrees Fahrenheit (insulation around heating cable). There was a problem when the pipe was frozen and found that the temperature sensor did not allow the device to turn on. Bought another one, had a little problem with it, the orange light didn't come on when the unit was supposed to be getting hot, but the cable got warm and the temp sensor worked. Will use again if needed.

Pros
  • Prevents water pipes from freezing down to -50 degrees Fahrenheit
Cons
  • Without automatic

This is normal, but be warned! If this fails, your hose will freeze!

I have used this product for two seasons, the first being in November 2015. It broke down during a cold spell that we had in January 2018. . I'd say it's ok, but to be on the safe side, if you're having a real cold spell and you're staying in an RV, your best bet is to open the gray water valve a little and let your water seep away a little safely. The lines in our RV are fine. The hose is frozen despite being insulated with this product. To be honest I don't know the best option, I'm just not…

product fraud. Fits pipe heating cable

The Revain photo for this product shows the cable wrapped around a pipe. The product description advertises "simple all-in-one installation". The description also says that the product has a light that shows if the thermostat is working. To make sure the product can be twisted or at least mounted on a tube with a bend, I set up a chat session with the seller. She contacted the other party and informed me that the product could indeed be coiled and/or placed on a 90 degree bend in the pipe as…

The plug indicator shows power, not heat.

So far so good. I've only had it installed a couple of weeks but wanted to post it as I think they are either sending out cables that are slightly different or maybe they have upgraded to a newer model. On reading the reviews, some reviews report that the lighted plug stays on all the time and some report that the light comes on when the cord gets very hot. On the cable I received this year (2016) the light is ALWAYS on and only seems to indicate that the circuit is complete and the cable is…

Important Thermostat Detail

I would recommend this product but I had an issue that almost made me want to remove the insulated heating tape from my water line and return it and it's not fun when it's cold outside. I wouldn't be surprised if some others have this problem, which is also a problem for the manufacturer and those who sell the product. I assume that the problem will exist with all other heating tapes; They're probably using the same thermostat. After installing the heating tape and insulation I wanted to make…
