Good inexpensive GPS for computers and accessories

These $13 modules are hard to beat. I'm not sure if these are fake Ublox modules or genuine custom branded modules, but they work great either way. I've been using them in a few different projects lately because they are 3.3V compatible, have a PPS pin, have USB and UART, and are very sensitive. I saw that they continued to pursue even without the antenna connected. The included header makes it easy to solder into a project.

Good support - replacement work; 50% failure rate

Contacted seller support and sent replacement and additional fee. The replacement works - and my other one works with the Arduino hardware. The product works as expected. I am satisfied with this purchase and the support. This GPS board uses a U.FL/I-PEX connector for the included antenna - and these connectors are small and not very easy to connect. There are websites how to do that. I've found that the time it takes to line up perfectly and then press down very straight and firmly helps…

Mainly the pros. A few cons. Works great for my application.

My application is timekeeping and certainly not flight controls. This module was fascinating because of its low price compared to other modules. /Terminal. • Operates at 5V and I have confirmed on the oscilloscope (and in use) that both TXD and PPS output TTL levels. • Draws 35mA at 5V. • PPS is a positive 100ms pulse and positive transitions appear to mark *next* received sentences and seconds = 00. Note that PPS are only shown if there is actually a fix (e.g. $GPRMC status term = 'A'). The…

$10 well spent

Works great. Mine gave a fairly quick first fix out of the box (expected around 10 minutes), and after that it warmed up in under a minute on average. I tracked up to 9 satellites indoors under a tiled roof with GPS quality 4 (RTK) and DOP values below 2.0. Please note that this is a 3.3V device. The VCC pin is set to 3.3V and can accept 5V, but all data pins are 3.3V. You can connect the Tx and PPS pins directly to the 5V TTL inputs (e.g .Arduino) ) and it will work fine - absolutely safe. Ideal for use with Raspberry Pi. Be careful with Arduino!

This little device is very valuable. It appears to be using a real U-Blox chip under a metal can and white label. Most features of the U-Center software appear to work well. I connected mine to a Raspberry Pi 2 to create an NTP time server. The PPS connection offers an accuracy of tens of nanoseconds. To do this, the Raspberry Pi must be configured to receive a PPS signal on one of the GPIO pins. I used the "GPSD" and "NTPD" packages, which work fine with the device. Don't forget to connect to…
