Works great on stainless steel

I used this saw to drill holes in a stainless steel tank. It cuts a clean round hole very quickly. I used it on my milling machine for a few holes but later found that it also works great with an 18v hand drill. If I use the right speeds and lube for the materials I'm using (e.g. the tool lasts almost forever. The hole size is nearly ideal for 1 1/2" sanitary pipe welds.

Impressive mild steel blade

Works surprisingly well, definitely impressed. I made one of those fairly labor intensive (36) 1-1/2" holes in .06" mild steel box tubing and still has plenty of time. There are no major chips on the carbide teeth - they are definitely worn but still very usable. I have about a dozen more holes to drill and I suspect he will. I bought a couple of traditional bi-metal hole saws as a backup but I don't think I'll need them. This thing worked fine in a Dewalt 18v cordless tool, although the drill…

High speed carbide teeth but expensive

The Makita carbide hole saw has tungsten carbide teeth which cut much faster than the tiny HSS bi-metal hole saw steel teeth. Carbide teeth stay sharp much longer. Good for stainless steel which can harden when drilled when heated. We've started using the new Blue Boar TCT stainless steel cutters in place of the Makita and Greenlee. The Blue Boar is half the price and cuts just as well, and we love that we can use it on a regular hole saw arbor and that it uses 1/4" pilot bits. HSS center drill
