A really good tool for some jobs

This thing is really strong and well built. A premium commercial quality tool that borders on industrial quality. I was surprised at how powerful yet easy to use it is. I bought it for a specific job (custom bevels on plexiglass to match the holes on a sailboat) and it has made the custom glazing job a million times easier. Now I always reach for it when something needs to be touched up. Solid value for money, more useful than expected. It's a tool you don't "need" in the sense that everything…

Pros
  • 21" long strap length allows for a maximum sanding length of 4-5/16" for faster work
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Clean hard-to-reach welds.

I bought this item to clean welds in hard to reach places. It works very well and I use it a lot. This doesn't work very well for smoothing large areas; Get a sander with a wider belt if you need to do this. It goes through the straps quickly too, so buy an extra box or two (they're cheap and the rough ones I use cut really fast). I expect straps to last a lot longer if you're primarily working with wood or similar materials. This is a very specialized tool. If you need something to fill that…

Pros
  • Universal for use with wood and steel
Cons
  • Expensive

Ideal for door latch holder

As another reviewer noted, this tool is great for grinding door latches. I renovate hotels and recently completed a project where I had to replace all the doors and locks in guest rooms (nearly 100 rooms). The old frames were broken and almost all of the latches had to be sanded to some degree for the doors to latch properly. This tool did it very quickly, much better than my old way of doing it. It has more than paid for itself. The supplier that supplied the locks actually installed the lock…

Pros
  • Ideal for carpenters, painters, sculptors, door hangers and do-it-yourselfers.
Cons
  • High Price
