Also works well with 5 " washers with 7/8 " bore

This tool was purchased to inspect the wall paneling for paint, in my 120 year old house I needed to do multiple coats of wall paneling grind. With 36 grit you can cover a 3 x 3 foot area in about a minute. The Makita grinder has enough power to get the job done. However, it is light enough to be used on the house wall from the stairs. I also have heavy two-handed sanders and have never been disappointed with Makita tools. And yes, you can use 7/8-inch discs with 5-inch shanks with this tool…

Pros
  • Trigger lock button for ease of use
Cons
  • unreliable

The random orbit sander is ideal for light surfaces such as wood or varnished/sealed wood. But I'm restoring a fiberglass boat and need something that will remove the hard surface and still maintain…

Pros
  • Spiral bevel gears for smoother rotation and more efficient power transmission
Cons
  • Requires socket

Since its size and the dust cover I use prevent it from going into rooms and corners or using a flat (big disappointment) it really reduces its usefulness. Bought for a paint restoration project and to be used with a dust cover on the fairing and steps from what I've read about (not a manufacturer or seller fault). But the…
