Review on High-Performance Makita GV5010 5 Disc Sander: Perfect Finishing Solution by Guillo Tilden

Be careful what you need

Great for very small projects but since you have to hold at a 15 degree angle it loses what I thought totally makes sense. The 5 inch diameter would have more room to grind. Since its size and the dust cover I use prevent it from going into rooms and corners or using a flat (big disappointment) it really reduces its usefulness. Bought for a paint restoration project and to be used with a dust cover on the fairing and steps from what I've read about (not a manufacturer or seller fault). But the revs are too high and too strong to safely use on a tree. I can't believe this is supposed to be used on skin. It may be possible to retrofit with sanding pads, but then why not just buy a cheaper sander. Can only be used with the hardest wood and you have to be very careful and so light you will end up with nothing and it will last forever. It's easy to leave deep grooves - this thing cuts grooves in concrete steps. I'm not a professional, but I have a lot of experience in updating and processing wood. Using a disc sander for the first time so others can correct me. I would be better off using a variable speed angle grinder and could get more work done with this tool than this very expensive disc sander which is too powerful for what I need, lacks enough surface area (takes forever) and can't get hard-to-reach places . . My advice: think carefully about what you want to use it for. If like me you think you can restore color with it, it's just not what I expected. There is nothing wrong with the tool itself. Very powerful. Again just not what I expected. I understand they are used for polishing glass and for this fine work I expect them to be excellent.
