This is Makita's superior hammer drill. I think this is Makita's latest half inch drill bit and it's very smooth and quiet. I have been a fan of Makita tools for many years and this has to be one of the best Makita products I have seen. Very powerful and fast loading. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality half inch cordless drill.

Pros
  • Compact and ergonomic design only 7" long; 14% shorter than previous model
Cons
  • Obsolete model

Didn't last very long.

I have used Makita tools exclusively for 15 years. I bought this drill in April 2021. After a few weeks the drill started to work, the drill/hammer selector slipped. A few weeks later I was only able to use speed 2. At speed 1, the cartridge did not spin. I use my drill 7 days a week, so repairing it is out of the question. Now, in November 2021, it looks like this. My best advice is if you make this purchase and have problems early on, return it immediately.

Pros
  • 2-speed transmission (0-550 and 0-2100 rpm) for a variety of drilling, screwdriving and impact drilling
Cons
  • Unsafe

Big, unconditional WOW!

Back in 2012 I bought a Makita BHP454 LXT 1/2 inch 18V lithium-ion cordless hammer drill. I really liked him. I've done things it probably wasn't designed for (sometimes I've worked so hard that the air coming out of the cooling vents was HOT after the 4Ah battery was fully drained) without lifting my finger from the trigger take, perform heavy grinding or hammering) concrete drilling). Anyway, last month my beloved old Makita's dynamic braking mechanism started to wobble a bit when the trigger

Pros
  • 0-31,500 bpm for faster hammer drilling in masonry
Cons
  • Expensive
