Best Hand Riveter Overall

Although this hand riveter costs twice what is sold at your local hardware store, it's worth it. Can work with all sizes of rivets I need and compresses easily. Please note that the manufacturer does not include an operating manual. For those inexperienced, a quick Google search will turn up plenty of written explanations and a few videos.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • So Far So Good

heavy but not very good

I use it for ceiling grids. This works great when you finally find out where to set the screw. But each compression shifts the attitude a bit. With an 8 hour workday and cutting jobs, be prepared to fiddle with it at least 6 times, anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes! But on the bright side, it's solidly made and you'll probably never need to buy another one again. Unlike the standard, we use and break 4-5 a year.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • a little torn

Very disappointed in Malco on this

Bought. Probably used 3 times. Half the time the mandrels are not cut cleanly. I spent more time setting this thing up than banging the rivets out. After sitting in my tool box for a few months, enough moisture had accumulated on the internals (I live in Florida) that enough rust had accumulated on it to render it unusable unless I decided to wash it in rust remover to soak and sand it down. I'm sticking with my $20 darts. 15 years old, rolled in the mud and mud and still works perfectly.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Poor Instructions

Beautiful but naked

Seems to work and feel good. Time will tell if it really costs twice as much as some others. Stanley has one that looks about as good for about half the price. A small disadvantage is that the arches are not marked. It's okay, but other guns for a third of the price manage to mark the nose by the size of the rivet. Also disappointed was the lack of packaging. NO storage box, no small wrench to replace the nose pieces. A zipper tied to a piece of plastic and cardboard is not my idea of properโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Hard to say

After wearing out a few others, I decided to try the "best ".

I've tried several rivet guns in my life and after pulling out a few SS rivets I ruined another one. So I decided to see if the "best" would be the best. Pulling 1/8" Alunimim rivets is completely effortless, the SS variant requires more force but is not a problem. The cool thing about this tool is that it's adjustable in two ways: first, you can change the pivot point, to change the stroke length depending on the mechanical gearing and secondly you can adjust the tension it puts on the rivetโ€ฆ

American quality. And you can get parts for it!

Made in the USA You can also get serviceable parts (imagine that). This is NOT a disposable tool like Chinese tools found in big stores. I was so happy to find this because I was tired of buying unnecessary hand tools. I'm happy to say it lived up to the reviews. After reading the setting instructions, I pulled out all sizes of steel and aluminum rivets with no problem - and these are ADP hard rivets (also made in America). In my experience, ADP rivets are definitely a much better alloy thanโ€ฆ
