Malco FT500 Block Type Flaring Review

This brake tool did not meet my expectations. Based on my observations, the design leaves room for error and inaccuracies. While it is an affordable option, I found myself having to double-check my work more than necessary.

I've had a lot of flare tools. This one is by far the best for one simple reason. It is small and fits in a regular tool bag. No suitcase and not bulky. Instead of making multiple trips to a work van, there's no reason not to toss it in your everyday bag and take it with you when needed.

It's been a long time since I've made flares and I've had to make 24 flares for a 5 unit mini split AC splitter that needed to be pressurized to 550 psi . The Malco tool did the job for me. The die holds the tube in place - this requires a hard final twist. The widening of the cone gives the tube's bell a beautiful shine.
