Poor design on hand tools

I have had 2 of these hammers they are usually amazing hammers. The one I just bought was poorly constructed, I noticed immediately the metal bottom was loose, used it for two days, it broke and went into the river.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Compatibility

I don't believe these are genuine Malco hammers

I'm starting to believe these aren't genuine Malco hammers. Ordered one here and it started rusting within 3 weeks. It's a lot of fun in my hand unlike other Malcoas I've used.

Pros
  • New
Cons

The Real Deal - Hammers

I used the same hammer for about a year and it quickly became my favorite until someone stole it for work. Went and ordered this one before reading the reviews and some said it might be a Chinese rip off. I can confirm this is the real deal and not fake. Great hammer, good weight and fits the hand perfectly. I couldn't imagine using anything else.

Pros
  • One Year Trial

Collapsible Handle

Less than 4 months old and the leather handle is starting to fall apart. The handle is made up of small individual rings that now float freely, creating small gaps and pinch points along the entire length. The hammer itself is still solid, only the handle is now in a wobbly mess. Malko is expensive and should last forever. My first Malco hammer (stolen) never had this problem and wore great.

Pros
  • Ultimate Convenience and Ease of Use
Cons
  • Expensive

Rumors of loose handles are true

I got this for my HVAC work because it's flat on the sides and allows for quick duct assembly. As mentioned in some reviews the metal disc at the end of the handle has come loose and now I have to glue it in place with super glue or something. Based on the reviews I can't say I expected a reliable pen but for the brand and price I was hoping for better quality. I only had this hammer for a week before it broke.

Pros
  • Hammer sections individually hardened and tempered for strength and resilience
Cons
  • No automatic

Feels new in the hand

I have worked with sheet metal all my life. I've always used Malco sheet metal hammers and mine got stolen and I wanted to buy another one and I bought this one but it doesn't seem right something is wrong. I think it's a Chinese imitation. I'm not sure, so I'll try replacing it with another one. Same hammer but $10 more. Maybe it was more expensive because it was real and I didn't buy it.

Pros
  • Leather will mold to the shape of the hand over time
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
