I loved this adapter for my stainless Edson steering wheel and SeaStar Power Tilt but didn't need it. No gaps were required when changing wheels.

I used this to turn this into a stem adapter for an extended handlebar and luggage rack, I machined it to fit some other parts, it's clearly made from decent quality billet , 6061 most likely because it handled well and the device had pretty decent accuracy and concentricity.

I had to modify this a bit to use it on my boat. The center shaft keyway was offset about 15 degrees from my old wheel. I centered the wheel on the adapter and re-drilled 4 of the 5 holes then cut to fit the bolts. I might have adjusted the steering setting on the boat, but it was easier to re-drill some of the holes than fiddling with them.

Excellent adapter! Exactly what I needed to use my Assualt 6 bolt handlebars on my '92 Reinel. 3 screws were missing. It was a keyed hairpin, so finding it was a blessing. Highly recommended. Haven't tested it in the water yet. Some reviews said the screws were broken. Maybe they had cheap steering wheel bolts. I will know as soon as I put it on but so far it looks good and looks like it will hold up.
