Check the size before purchasing, it may not fit.

I purchased this product for my 50 gallon aquarium. I was very impressed with the design and particularly liked the idea of the atomizers helping the Biowheels rotate, which always seems to be a problem in my tank. I bought a larger size than I need just for this function. I had no idea how much bigger it is than my old one. It's over 16 inches wide! It was too wide to fit between my gravelpack intake manifolds. Looks like a great unit if your tank has room for it!

Better than the old

. I've been using it for about a month and in general I can say that it's better than the old one. First off, it looks a lot better, and the flip top is a plus. It's definitely stronger. The suction and circulation of the water is noticeably more efficient and I like that the flow can be regulated. The filter is now self-priming (hooray!), and the addition of a media basket is also a plus. The design change also makes it easier to access the impeller for cleaning, and now the air intake…

Note the waterline issue

All good except when I hit the top of the waterline there is about 3 inches of air/dead space at the top of the tank. If you look at the photo on the product packaging, it also shows a waterline well below the top of the aquarium. I find it unsightly and it makes the overhead light look bad. Also, the filter's power cord is submersible on my setup (because of the new design) and I'm concerned about that. Tried to get an answer on the Marineland website and got a nonsensical response. Maybe I'll

Great for anything over 10 gallons

I bought a Pro 125 and I'd say about 10 gallons is the minimum between the length of the inlet line and the regulated flow - it can go down to 12.5 gallons/hour or so, but even with silicone lube it will Biowheel won't spin that low. I've got it on an Aqueon 14 frameless cube designed for some pea puffers, measles and some (NOT long melting) endlers and so far so good. I filled the material reservoir with Seachem Matrix and Revain porous ceramic balls (I'll name them later) and replaced the…
