Review on 🐟 Enhance Aquarium Filtration with MarineLand Penguin PRO Power Filter by Tamara Simpson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great for anything over 10 gallons

I bought a Pro 125 and I'd say about 10 gallons is the minimum between the length of the inlet line and the regulated flow - it can go down to 12.5 gallons/hour or so, but even with silicone lube it will Biowheel won't spin that low. I've got it on an Aqueon 14 frameless cube designed for some pea puffers, measles and some (NOT long melting) endlers and so far so good. I filled the material reservoir with Seachem Matrix and Revain porous ceramic balls (I'll name them later) and replaced the carbon cartridge with a 30 and 40 ppi filter sponge along with what appeared to be a 20 micron filter floss. So far no complaints, after priming with Stability and about 2 weeks driving time, the tank works quite well! I love how much you can customize to your preferences with these professional filters and if I didn't already have a canister by the time I was 40 I would be seriously considering becoming an emperor. I love the concept (and execution so far) of the bio wheel and hope to see more size as the tank matures. Update 6/4/21: A few days ago the engine refused to revive after being shut down for maintenance. . I plugged it back in and it didn't even try to pump water. I thought it was a power/current issue but then I opened up the impeller chamber to make sure it was really dead when I plugged it in. Engine. Not sure if this is due to lack of water in the chamber or some other issue. I will email Marineland support to try to find a solution.
