I think when they packed it for shipping no one bothered to notice that the 'innovative locking mechanism' was missing. This tray was perfect for my ferret. I used to have a corner pan, but my ferret would always go to the corner of his cage outside of it. I have two boys, one of whom is scrupulously clean and has been using the triangular corner pan for four years with no problems, but as he got older I wanted something with a low lip and more room for his comfort.
