Works great with my Sunsun canister filter. I put 4 of the 5 bowls in the jar so I have the maximum amount of room to grow the good bacteria. The last tray I have pads in. A large bucket is a great value compared to buying smaller crates at your local pet store.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Low maintenance

The biological filter material you need in your aquarium.

A 1 gallon bath may seem large, but people should understand that this material SIGNIFICANTLY increases the bacterial colony capacity in your aquarium. Use it A LOT, especially if you plan on getting a bit crowded, which is a common occurrence. For the amount of water you have, plan on at least doubling that and you'll be golden.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Slightly ragged

Have the dustiest barrel hip bottom

I spent a day, not a whole day, sifting and rinsing until I could add this! I usually rinsed in salt water several times, but here I couldn't even use ro/do or ro. I've been using the hose and faucet for several hours. I was angry, frustrated, shocked, angry, overwhelmed by how awful my experience with it was. I have been using the Sea-Chem matrix for almost 10 years and have never been so disgusted with their products.

Matrix high performance biofiltration reseller.

I received this product to remove nitrates from my aquarium, after adding a few scoops I found that half of the medium was powder. Because of this, I can't use half of this pale color. I hope every seller sees this post and wants to let me know! The medium works fine, but I bought 4 liters of medium, not 2 liters of medium and 2 liters of medium powder. Media powder cannot be added to my aquarium filter and I would like a refund for the remaining 2 liters or half my money.

  • Free for educational purposes

5% volcanic glass and normal stone

I can only give 4 stars. I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to biomedia. I really believe in this brand. I only use this and Biohome Ultimate. While Matrix seems to work very well for me, this product lacks consistency. In this container I had everything from ordinary rocks to what appeared to be volcanic glass. Unfortunately, that's just not normal. A person like me could easily buy pumice stone in bulk. We can easily break them down by size etc, so Seachem has to provide us with a full quality

This is the BEST medium I have ever used!

First, there are hundreds of types of biocarriers on the market and all of them work to some extent, but this product has always been stable. We're talking fine gravel the size of a huge area for bacteria to colonize to filter your tanks. After 10-15 days my matrix is covered with a nice thick layer of bacteria busy eating ammonia, nitrite and converting to nitrate which my plants love. This 1 gallon is enough to fill 3 typical media containers with product and lasted almost 2 years with no…

Check what you get!

Check what you get as soon as you get it! I bought a 4 liter reservoir for my SunSun 303b and that's what I got! It looks like a small cesspool. It's not matrix, it's pumice and bigger. First it was dusted off to make the color look even. After I washed it, it became like this. The matrix will have some color spread, but not that! small pebble like material that appears rough all around. None of the pieces floated like pumice, and the entire container weighed 7.5 pounds dry versus the 3.3…

Excelente relacion precio vs tamaño

Excelente inversion. It is an ideal UV canister product that can be used to filter biological bacteria.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Not everything fits

I bought a 4 liter container from a vendor at the market. It was listed as 'used' with minor packaging defects. I received the box with slight signs of wear. Inside, some of the fill material has been replaced with random stones. The fill should be a light, porous "rock" or "pebble" that feels like "pumice" and comes in a variety of sizes and shapes and is primarily white (although some darker grey/brown bits may be interspersed). My batch consisted of about 5% random sedimentary/igneous rocks…
