I use this to spread artificial butter (margarine?) on toast, pancakes and anything else that needs a thin layer of buttery material. I've tried real butter but it's too thick and difficult to squeeze out of that little slit. It's a little dirty inside, so if you don't have access to a dishwasher, you're in for a long and heartbreaking ordeal when it comes time to wash it. I ordered this after seeing an ad on FB and thought it looked great. The idea is good, but I haven't had any luck with it. I took a pack of butter out of the fridge and put it in a plastic tube. I tried pushing it through the only slot by rotating the top which has grooves that look a lot like a screw. Received as a gift with high intentions. I just wanted something to store my butter and make it easier to spread on toast. It's pretty well made, but not what I expected. First, it's designed for longer, narrower sticks that are hard to come by. But I buy butter at Costco or one of the chain stores and I get short fat sticks. So I had to trim it to fit. It's perfect. I can use toast butter that doesn't need to be softened so it doesn't tear the bread. To solve some of the issues I've seen: 1) It's machine washable, top shelf so there's no problem cleaning it up, 2) It fits easily on a standard butterstick, the long skinny one rather than the shorter one, wide version. What I like most about the milk dispenser is that you can use it to dose a small portion. It comes out in a ribbon shape and works well on a surface like Keyser buns or baked potatoes. When I first used it, I found it hard to turn the knob. However, this was no longer a problem after the next time. When the oil is used in the grinder, the red cap is difficult to unscrew. A gift that always makes people happy! I've had this product for a while now and it's GREAT! UPDATE 01/14/2018: This product is still available. Almost daily use. Was stored for about 2 years during the "transition period" :) A few tips for those who want to buy it. I still find this product better than sliced bread!
