Quiet and moves a lot of air

I'm a woodworker and bought this fan from the store for air circulation. I have a few small fans, but they just don't quite do it. This fan is less noisy than the smaller ones and hasn't been used much, but looks like it's going to be pretty good.

Pros
  • Crossing my fingers
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

In general I am satisfied.

Almost what I expected. Easy to assemble. A bit noisy but I only use it in my garage/gym at home so I just turn up some music to offset the noise. Something was damaged upon delivery. One of the plastic handles on the side of the cage was broken and a few inches above that the cage itself was bent but was easily straightened out.

Perfect fit for us. Made in Texas.

The first fan arrived with significant frame damage. The company shipped a replacement fan within a week. Good service. No problem. We use a fan on our large 12x20 covered patio (ceiling fans will not fit). There's a good breeze. It's not a whisper (I wasn't expecting it), but it's not so loud that we couldn't have a normal conversation. Perfect fit for us. And we love that it's MADE IN THE USA!

Good first impression

Just assembled the fan and ran it at various speeds for 1.5 hours yesterday to ensure there were no immediate problems. Overall, it looks sturdy and provides good airflow. Loud as expected. However, deducting 1 star because part of the fan grille was bent, but I was able to basically fix it back into shape with my hands; Note that the guard is relatively malleable, and I have a feeling that if I bend the steel guard back and forth too much to get it perfect, the welds may crack.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Only available in black

Very loud. Poor engineering and manufacturing.

Upright bolted to baseplate with 5 1/4-20 1.5mm sheet metal screws, no nuts. Terrible tech there and junk issues. Every vibration and thread will fail. I drilled the threads and put in 5 x 6mm bolts with washers and nuts. Fixed now. The MaxxAir center fan cover fell off in the box, so there is a safety hazard from the hole in the center front of the fan. The only way I see is to try to glue them back on. I can handle stuff like that, but now that it works it's very loud! $200 total loss, but…

Didn't last even 4 months at low level. knock and rumble.

UPDATE 6/18/2020: Toby Schoonover from MaxxAir contacted me and gave me a full refund for my purchase despite my lack of enthusiasm. He says one product had problems - something with spider spindles or something. Despite my hesitation, Toby insisted and eventually insisted that I accept the refund. I am impressed by this company's willingness to go the extra mile when a product fails. I had another one that lasted many years so I was quite surprised when the new one broke. The fact that the…
