What's wrong?: Tail light assembly

Judging by the reviews, people received different batches of these lights. The dipping (if that's the word) of these lanterns is questioned for the following reasons: 1) The hole where the wires go is not sealed. This can be sealed with silicone or hot glue. 2) Lenses do not have seals. If you buy a similar lamp, replace the gaskets with a new lamp. You can try silicone, but the rim around the lenses isn't wide enough to accommodate much silicone, if any. If you look at the main picture of…

Cheap enough, poorly put together, new staff?

When you want a quality product, choose something better. If you're looking for something cheap and you have the know-how, you can make them work. A clear window that can be used for a license plate bulges out, creating the perfect spot for water to slosh around and ruin the light. If the window is good enough, you can seal the gap with clear silicone or a hot glue gun. If they weren't so cheap and needed a license plate light, I would send them back. Installed, they worked and the fix is…

GARBAGE! Not waterproof, not all LEDs.

Garbage only, less than 2 years old, obviously covered with salt water, see photo of rusty mush inside. The side bulb is incandescent, not LED, it doesn't look like water resistance. Sure, they can be submerged in water, but don't expect them to work after you take them out. Don't worry, it's not even worth $20. I contacted support and sent them these photos, they offered to ship a new pair *only* for a $12 shipping fee which is probably double their cost. I declined, they don't even cost a…

There's no chance they're waterproof!

The specs page says this model is waterproof. Not by chance! In one of the photos posted by another user you can see the hole that the wires go through. None of the lenses have seals. The lenses do not fit the lamp body with a tight tolerance. It's a sieve, trust me. The first set I ordered had a bulb with a broken main lens and a rattling part inside. There was a drop of sticky goo where the wires enter. Returned. There's no such crap in the second set. They were both sealed in bubble wrap so…

Nice replacement kit for MaxxHaul 70205

I have had a MaxxHaul 70205 for 8 years now and recently I had a bracket fracture and a light broke on the freeway. But it's not because of the lanterns. I didn't see a specific replacement for the kit so I bought this 70460 kit as I don't need the whole kit again. They have shorter rivets on the back of the lights than mine. a different set and there is NO silicone on the back of the flashlight like in the photos or like my old flashlights. However, I removed the lens and you can see in my…

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • Something different

I got them from Revain because they were a bit cheaper than a new set from the store. They look and feel just like the lights you can get anywhere. 2 of the screws matched the holes on my previous flashlights so that was good. They actually come with a third white wire ending in a metal ring that needs to be slipped over the bolt and pressed firmly against the metal when tightening the nut. This gives you a better foundation than just relying on a bolt to make good contact with the trailer…
